Ideas for outings...

Little Rhune train
In the town of Sare, about 30 minutes from our rental, the little Rhûne train, an authentic rack railway dating from 1924, takes you in 35 minutes, to an altitude of 905 meters, to one of the most legendary peaks in the Basque Country!

Baïgura leisure center
Located at the foot of the Baigura massif, the leisure center is open all year round. It offers a multitude of outdoor activities starting from the base (45 kilometers of marked trails, paragliding, scooter descent, etc.). On site, you can enjoy the La Gaita bar restaurant to eat. A picnic area with a playground is also at your disposal.

Caves of Isturitz and Oxocelhaya
Less than 20 minutes from the rental, a surprising discovery in the heart of the Basque Country. On the same site, two visits that immerse you in the depths of history... Visit the Isturitz cave, world-famous among archaeologists thanks to the wealth of its remains, a sign of occupation for more than 80,000 years, and the Oxocelhaya cave, a masterpiece of nature, with its thousand-year-old concretions, a mineral jewel. Several vast rooms follow one another, leading the visitor into the magic of a grandiose underground world. 2 stars in the Michelin Green Guide.

Village of Espelette
10 kilometers away, head for Espelette. This is a village that has managed, over time, to preserve all its authenticity with its beautiful houses, its recently restored castle, its church, its wash houses... Espelette is also known for its famous chili pepper. Throughout the year, the village associations organize cultural or sporting events (concerts, dancing, Basque force, markets, flea markets, garage sales, etc.)
Villa Arnaga in Cambo-les-Bains
Less than 10 minutes from the rental, visit Arnage. Coming to the Basque Country to convalesce, Edmond Rostand, the author of "Cyrano de Bergerac" fell in love with the region, and had a superb residence built there, both traditional and modern. A house, two gardens (French and English), an orangery and a farmhouse, all together form a masterpiece of poetry, which makes the walls and trees rhyme...

Beaches on the Basque coast
From Hendaye to Anglet, via Biarritz or Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the beaches of the Basque Country offer visitors varied landscapes. From large expanses of sand (Anglet, Hendaye), to steep cliffs (Biarritz, St Jean de Luz), Basque beaches are known as much to surfers as to swimming enthusiasts looking for a still preserved setting.
Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port
At the foothills of the Pyrenean foothills, between the Basque Coast and the Spanish border, Saint Jean Pied de Port is an unmissable destination in the Basque Country. A must-see on the way to Santiago de Compostela, this medieval city, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, is overlooked by an imposing citadel, fortified under the orders of Louis XIV, by the famous architect Vauban.
